My Week as a Single Gal

minnie tee.jpg{we heart it}

If the title of my post scared you, no worries, all is well with Matt and I!  But last week, Matt had to leave town unexpectedly, and I found myself with a lot of free time and space, enjoying some of the single girl things I haven't gotten to enjoy in a while.  Don't worry, these single girl things didn't include dancing on table tops or cruising the town for hottie patottoies (I didn't do that even when I was single.)  I haven't changed too many of my habits since getting married, but let's face it, there are just some things that are a little easier to enjoy when you're on your own, with a bit more "you" time.  Here are a few of the small things that I enjoyed last week as a single girl...

A movie night where the front runners were Mean Girls, Big Fat Liar, Wish Upon a Star, and Dear John.  (I went with Dear John.)

Candles lit in every single room without teasing that our apartment looks like we're hosting a seance.

Pouring over fashion mags in my leopard robe.

Having at least cans 4 of Diet Dr. Pepper sprinked through the house and not being sure which one I'm actually drinking out of.

Blasting my girly girl ipod playlist while dancing around doing laundry.

A big, comfy bed all to myself.

Back to back episodes of Friday Night Lights and Toddlers and Tiaras.  (And don't judge me if "back to back" is more like back to back to back to back.)

Maintaining a diet of chicken noodle soup and macaroni and cheese.

Sleeping in on Saturday.

Putting on mascara while belting out the Glee soundtrack.

Catching up on blog reading with a glass of red wine in hand.

By the time Sunday rolled around, I'd had my fill of my mac and cheese, and I'm certain my neighbors were about to call animal control on the screeching cats downstairs that were attempting their best Rachel Berry show tunes.  So it was a good thing Matt came home.  (And the fact that I missed him like crazy.)  But for a few days, it was a certainly nice to take advantage of a little "me" time and enjoy my guilty pleasures.  Whether you're single, married, engaged, neither, or both (although both would be a little weird) what are the things you love doing when you find yourself with a little extra downtime?

I LOVE my boyfriend, but a night alone is not always a bad thing :) I always get a lot done, drink some wine and sleep really well!! I'm sure you're glad Matt's back, though :)

Very cute post! I feel the same when my boyfriend isn't home there are some things that I love to do including: blaring country tunes, making a mess and not cleaning it up right away and dancing around the condo in outrageous outfits!

When I'm alone, I dance... and sing... alot. It's embarrassing. If anyone ever caught me, I would die! Also, I snack alot - usually I'll order some comfort food to go, bring it home, and enjoy in front of the tube :) I love watching Sex and the City boxed sets! This post reminds me that I need to kick the husband out and have a little bit of "me" time sometime SOON!

How cute! I've been a single gal this week too. It's lonely, but a little nice at the same time.

The Dr. Pepper part made me giggle :)

Aww its true. Nothing like having your man but nothing like having you time too. Im alll about singing at the top of my lungs when I'm alone, watching my HILLS and GIRLS NEXT DOOR dvds over and over again [at least my fiance loves sex and the city but NOT those shows] and not cleaning up until RIGHT when he's about to come home!

Hahahaha, I loved this post! I can just imagine you taking full advantage of the fact that you could do whatever you liked! I live with my guy, so I don't have too many nights all to myself either since he leaves for work after I leave and gets home before I do. I love him to pieces, but I also love being able to watch Enchanted on the big TV and not having to cook!

haha I love this post, I definitely laughed out loud.

I'm with you on the DDP but for me it's 1/2 drank bottles of water. I always feel for which one is coldest.

When alone I:
-live in my lavendar chenille robe that screams grandma.
-have my hair in a bun on the top of my head and it's not a cute bun.
-eat 10 different types of foods at once and it looks and sounds gross.
-sing Mariah Carey, Lily Allen, Britney, anything of that sorts sooo loud.
-Dance, dance, dance.
-take long naps and don't act ashmaed when I wake up at 4pm exhausted and ready for bed.
-Harry Potter or Disney Movies. I'm probably going to watch one...

thanks for the big congrats today! I'm SO excited and basically relieved :)

And a good chick flick!

Allison...this is too funny...and don't tell Blah Blah but I think I thrive in a long distance relationship because I get to do some of this stuff. Plus, absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

LOL....You just described what I would do if my STBH (soon to be husband) was out of town. Right down to the TV shows.

Love you blog!

well that pretty much sounds awesome, including your movie roster! (i love the movie mean girls!)
when the boy & i shared an apartment, one of my favorite things was taking bubble baths with my girly LUSH bath bombs and bubble bars. i also tend to use times like that to catch up on reality tv and read fashion magazines!

I love reading your blog! It is always so cute and relatable! I do almost the exact same things when I am being my single gal self, which is usually all the time since my hubby and I live apart at the moment! But it is good to have the girl time!
